Our Mission:
To educate, equip, and assist children in getting prepared and staying prepared for natural disasters.
Our Initiative
Kid Prep engages children through interactive age-appropriate presentations and hands-on activities, making learning about emergency preparedness both fun and memorable. Each child receives a backpack containing local and federal resources, along with a book about natural disasters relevant to their area. These tangible preparedness items serve as foundational tools to help children understand the importance of getting prepared and staying prepared for emergencies.

By encouraging children to take charge of their own emergency preparedness and equipping them with the necessary tools and knowledge, Kid Prep empowers them to face emergencies with confidence. This initiative not only builds their skills but also fosters a sense of personal responsibility and community awareness.
Our Goals
-
Help children become aware of the types of natural disasters that have the potential to occur in the area they live.
-
Encourage conversations about how these disasters could impact them, their families, and communities.
-
Use this information to guide children through the preparation process of creating a plan, building a disaster kit, and practicing their plan.
-
Inspire children to share their preparedness knowledge with others, so they too can ‘get prepared and stay prepared’.
Natural disasters are a part of life and can be scary and stressful for children. But, did you know that when children are well-informed and prepared for such occurrences they exhibit less stress, cope better, and feel empowered? Did you know that when children are able to talk about things that concern them, it can reduce the effects of fear? Did you know that when children are given the opportunity to be proactive through planning and acting on new information, they feel better equipped?
